Journey Series: Kira
The Femme Oasis: How do you identify yourself (gender and gender performance)?
Kira: She, her.
TFO: What is your current occupation?
TFO: What do you do as a hobby?
K: Creative writing.
TFO: What are some organizations you’re involved in?
K: None, yet.
TFO: What is your dream job?
K: Ideally, I dream of writing for a women's magazine or being a successful novelist. However, more realistically, I am hoping to be successful enough in freelancing.
TFO: What are the three major stressors in your life?
K: School, more specifically going back. Money. The future.
TFO: How do you cope with your stresses (if at all)?
K: I like to do what I can to make myself feel in control. I like to feel like there is order, organization within chaos. Maybe I will clean, or sit down with a good book. Anything to feel productive.
TFO: Do you have goals you set for your life overall?
K: Absolutely. I don't want to spend at least 2 years living in every coast. I want to finish a novel. I want to be published.
TFO: What is your process in achieving these goals?
K: As of now I am trying to get the funds to finish school. I have a year left for my bachelors, until then, I feel at a bit of a stand-still. I am trying to stay inspired, and busy.
TFO: What is your daily mantra (if you have one)?
K: Mainly, I like to stay positive. As long as I am surrounding myself with good energy, and putting good things into the world, I will receive good in return.
TFO: Are you happy where you are in life?
K: I am happy, but I am not satisfied. I have everything I need, but there is much more that I want for myself.
TFO: If not, would you say you’re unhappy, or just not completely satisfied because you want better/more?
K: Yes, exactly.
TFO: Are you on a path you feel is right for you?
K: I feel as though I am in the right direction. I know what I need to be doing, and what the steps are, I just need to take them.
TFO: Do you feel confused or pressure to figure out if you are on the right path?
K: At times, yes. But mostly I am eager to get started.
TFO: If you feel you aren’t on the right path for you, what are your roadblock(s)?
K: As I mentioned before, funds are my biggest roadblock currently.
TFO: Do you feel you can alleviate these hindrances or do you feel they are bigger than you?
K: I have not yet decided the answer to that. Sometimes both.
TFO: What are some pressures of society you wish didn’t exist?
K: I wish college was not so essential. I wish a piece of paper that puts you in debt didn't determine so much in your life.
TFO: What would be one thing you don’t have but you want at this very moment (it can be tangible or intangible)?
K: My diploma, and unlimited ideas.
TFO: What do you do for self-care (if anything)?
K: Once a week, I need a "Me day." Exfoliating, moisturizing, dark chocolates, face masks and a good film. I like to decompress in private.
TFO: What is something you do well that you can offer society?
S: Writing is my first talent. Words have always come easy to me. I like to believe I'm also a great listener, and can usually offer useful advice.
TFO: Do you have goods or services you want to sell or promote to your fellow femmes and women?
K: Not currently, but I am working on a self-care zine that I'd like to share once I'm finished.
TFO: Where can we find you (social media, email, organization etc.)?
K: Twitter or Instagram- kira_rice and kirarice or my blog- vulgarvulvas.wordpress.com
