Oprah Winfrey: the American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, philanthropist, and, who could forget, on top of Forbes’s list as one of the richest, most successful business women in the world. Just when you think she couldn’t outdo herself any more, Oprah Winfrey is back again gracing headlines once more. Lately, Winfrey has been creating quite a buzz in the media industry with some of the biggest names in the technology game.

June of this year, Apple announced a multi-year partnership with the icon to produce original programming for the tech company as it tries to compete with Netflix and Amazon, two of the most increasingly crowded content fields. The collaboration came as a mutual benefit in which Apple felt Winfrey had this wonderful ability to connect with wide audiences around the world.

Sources say the deal includes everything from film, TV, applications, books, and other content that could easily be distributed through the Apple platform. Winfrey's Harpo Films will own any and all content produced under the Apple partnership, which is in line with the mega-producer's longtime business structure and model.

Evidently, this deal alone is a great next move. The exposure of Winfrey’s singular known name is enough to lure viewers and/or fans in. It legitimizes the on-brand of Winfrey’s various other deals (her cable network OWN, stake in Weight Watchers, and CBS contributor on 60 Minutes to name a few), while drawing a wider audience into the media sector of Apple, Amazon, and Netflix. These collaborations position both the names and the brands onto another level of competition.

We have recently seen similar industry moves with more of Hollywood’s top talent. Apple has linked deals with Steven Spielberg for a new season of his 1980s anthology program "Amazing Stories," as well as a production deal with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. The actresses will be shooting two seasons of a morning show drama. Even NBA superstar Kevin Durant has signed papers for a basketball drama.

With all of these industry mergers happening with entertainment's biggest names, it isn't a surprise that Winfrey is the obvious next star to join the bandwagon.

As an African-American black woman, she has always been such an inspiration to us all. Winfrey adds a new spectrum of star power to the mix of industry professionals. The talk show host is a cultural force with an incalculable amount of loyal followers. Seeing her as the face of what is the definition of hi-tech and pure fortune is just another groundbreaking move for all women.
