An Introduction to Zodiacs

Almost everyone has read their horoscope at one point or another, and if they haven’t then at least they’ve heard of them. But what are zodiacs exactly? And what do they mean? The current zodiac signs are a part of Western beliefs, but oddly enough the concept has been around since early Mesopotamia Era! There are 12 signs in total and a person’s sign is established by the position of the stars at their birth. As mystical as it sounds, horoscopes have established dates. There is a way to determine other zodiac signs, such as the moon sign, but for now, we’ll focus on the more common sun signs and a few of their related traits.
ARIES, the Ram (March 21-April 19): Eager, Quick, Competitive
TAURUS, the Bull (April 20-May 20): Dependable, Creative, Strong
GEMINI, the Twins (May 21-June 20): Adaptable, Expressive, Curious
CANCER, the Crab (June 21-July 22): Compassionate, Intuitive, Protective
LEO, the Lion (July 23-August 22): Dramatic, Outgoing, Self-Assured
VIRGO, the Maiden (August 23-September 22): Practical, Loyal, Analytical
LIBRA, the Scales (September 23-October 22): Social, Diplomatic, Fair
SCORPIO, the Scorpion (October 23-November 21): Stubborn, Resourceful, Bold
SAGITTARIUS, the Archer (November 22-December 21): Optimistic, Generous, Explorative
CAPRICORN, the Sea-Goat (December 22-January 19): Independent, Tenacious, Serious
AQUARIUS, the Water-Bearer (January 20-February 18): Imaginative, Deep, Uncompromising
PISCES, the Fish (February 19-March 20): Loving, Artistic, Empathetic
Of course, there's always the chance you'll take one look at your sign and say that it couldn’t possibly apply to you! But that’s the beauty of the signs. People are vast sources of personality that can express themselves in a myriad of ways! A Virgo could be the sort of person who always chooses comfort over style in their daily life, but they might also be the type to sew hidden pockets into a ball gown in order to sneak out some extra snacks. No two people express themselves the same way, and the signs are no different in this regard. You could take their advice the same way you would a BuzzFeed quiz or you might see them as destiny written in the stars. Either way, it's up to you to incorporate their lessons into your life. With all the potential paths it can lead you down, sometimes it's best to step back and evaluate exactly how and why your zodiac sign is having a place in your life. It's sure to be magical.
