The Femme Oasis: How do you identify yourself (gender and gender performance)?

Lashay: I identify as female , for sure a woman. Definitely “girly” or feminine as far as performance.

TFO: What is your current occupation?

L: I currently work at a bank as a teller & part time stylist at David’s Bridal.

TFO: What do you do as a hobby?

L: For hobbies, I blog and do YouTube. I love to be creative and expressive. I like to do my makeup when I’m bored for fun and I like to make things out of magazines and create little poster boards.

TFO: What are some organizations you’re involved in?

L: I don’t think a lot. I have been apart of an organization with my old employer where each new hire team donates to a charity of their choice and makes a huge meal for one of the local homeless shelter.

TFO: What is your dream job?

L: Ah my favorite question lol because I have so many. My dream job is to work in the media industry. I’d love to become an actress but also working as a full-time beauty blogger.

TFO: What are the three major stressors in your life?

L: BILLS! Weight gain and working jobs I hate.

TFO: How do you cope with your stresses (if at all)?

L: I cry for sure. I write or blog and I do my makeup. I also sleep a lot.

TFO: Do you have goals you set for your life overall?

L: Yes of course. I have so many. I have goals for days.

TFO: What is your process in achieving these goals?

L: Making sure I post consistently on YouTube. Volunteering and attending as many events as I can to get my foot in the door. Taking acting classes hopefully this year & trying to get my debt under control.

TFO: What is your daily mantra (if you have one)?

L: I definitely live by the saying, “don’t cry over spilled milk.” What is done is done. I stopped stressing about lots of things based on that quote because why cry over what you can’t change. I also live by the saying “you are you and that is your power.”

TFO: Are you happy where you are in life?

L: Absolutely not. I am sad a lot about where I am in life but I am also grateful to be where I am.

TFO: If not, would you say you’re unhappy, or just not completely satisfied because you want better/more?

L: I would say both. I want sooo much more but I also am really unhappy with where I work and with all the debt I have consumed.

TFO: Are you on a path you feel is right for you?

L: Sort of. I feel like my mindset on my career goals is in the right path. My current jobs are not in my correct path at all but bills have to get paid.

TFO: Do you feel confused or pressure to figure out if you are on the right path?

L: Yes, I feel confused on whether what I want is attainable.

TFO: If you feel you aren’t on the right path for you, what are your roadblock(s)?

L: Bills. I have financial responsibilities.

TFO: Do you feel you can alleviate these hindrances or do you feel they are bigger than you?

L: Way bigger than me. Once my debt is under control and my credit is good, I would quit my job and use a credit card to just up and move to NYC and follow my dreams.

TFO: What are some pressures of society you wish didn’t exist?

L: The need to be skinny. The need to have lots of friends.

TFO: What would be one thing you don’t have but you want at this very moment (it can be tangible or intangible)?

L: LOTS OF MONEY. I want lots of money. A boyfriend would be nice too.

TFO: What do you do for self-care (if anything)?

L: Do my makeup, get my nails done, eat healthy, work out, be alone.

TFO: What is something you do well that you can offer society?

L: Be myself and make others laugh. Write. I can write pretty well.

TFO: Do you have goods or services you want to sell or promote to your fellow femmes and women?

L: I am an MUA so I do makeup and I also have a blog and YouTube which I consider my goods. So check out my blog, Iglamshay.com & my YouTube is Lashay Naria.

TFO: Where can we find you (social media, email, organization etc.)?

L: Instagram @Lashaynaria, twitter @lashaynaria, fb page @iglamshay & YouTube Lashay Naria.
